76ers on the Brink of Elimination

The Philadelphia 76ers will host the Boston Celtics in game six of their eastern conference semifinal series tonight. The 76ers find themselves down 3-2 in the series and with their backs against the wall. Win tonight and the series is extended to a game seven in Boston Saturday. Lose tonight and go home for a long summer.

The coach of the 76ers, Doug Collins showed his team films on Tuesday of a 1982 playoff series between the Celtics and 76ers where Philly was pushed to a seventh game by Boston, in Boston and won. He wanted his players to know they can win on the road, but first need to take game six tonight at home.

Philly this post season is 4-0 SU following a game they lost. They cannot allow the Celtics to open a big lead against them, as they have been routed twice this series by the Celtics. In game five, they were leading by six, but let the Celtics outscore them 14-2 in one stretch and then 10-2 to end the quarter and they were never able to recover.

The veteran Celtics rested on Tuesday after their Monday win. The Celtics were led in their win against Philly in game five by Brandon Bass’ 27 points and 20 from Kevin Garnett. Rajon Rondo, the team’s playmaker had 14 assists, seven in the decisive third quarter, and 13 points.

The Sixers need better consistency from players like Andre Iguolala, Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner. Big men Elton Brand and Stephen Hawes will have to try to neutralize the frontcourt play of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

The line opened with Philly as a 2-point favorite playing on their home court. The line has remained steady at 2. The total is 175 ½ after opening at 174. The 76ers will win this game tonight and send the series to a game seven. Take the Sixers less the points with a total to pay out to the OVER bettor.
