The Los Angeles Dodgers host the New York Mets at Dodger Stadium tonight for the first of a four-game series. The Dodgers are in a tailspin after losing four consecutive games. Los Angeles has had to play without their top offensive player Matt Kemp due to injury and now right fielder Andre Ethier has been injured and may go on the disabled list.
The Dodgers are 43-33 on the season and only 11-15 since Kemp has been on the disabled list for the second time. The Dodgers just ended a road trip where they were 1-8 and in a three game series with San Francisco to end the road trip, they did not score a single run. Currently the Dodgers have not scored for 30 straight innings.
Tonight Chris Capuano will pitch for the Dodgers. Capuano is 9-2 on the season with an ERA of 2.60. He will be facing his former team where he was 11-12 last season. Last Saturday Capuano allowed just one run on seven hits, in a 3-1 win on the road against the Angels. It was the only win for the team on their 9-game road trip.
The Mets are 40-36 on the season and are coming off a 17-1 win over the Chicago Cubs. The win snapped a skid of four consecutive games for the Mets. Daniel Murphy had two home runs in the game for the Mets, Ike Davis hit a three-run homer and Scott Hairston, a grand slam.
Chris Young will get the nod for the Mets tonight. Young is 1-1 on the season with an ERA of 3.42 since his debut in early June. He lost on Saturday to the Yankees 4-3 after giving up a late inning three-run homer. Young is just 1-3 with an ERA of 6.23 in five career starts against Los Angeles.
The line has the Dodgers as the favorite at home -130 to the Mets +120. The run total is set at 7. Smart money takes the Dodgers to return to winning form at home. Take LA to win, with the run total cashing out to those who take the UNDER.
