Kentucky Looks To Make Sweet Sixteen

March Madness enters its second round today. The higher seeded teams will be facing even tougher competition than in the first round, which will increase the already high pressure placed on the shoulders of the young players and their coaches. The number one team in the nation, the Kentucky Wildcats will play against a tough scrappy Iowa State Cyclones team.

Iowa State’s first round game was against the Connecticut Huskies. The Cyclones won that game handily 77-64 and at one time were ahead 36-14 in the first half. They covered the 1.5 point underdog spread in the win.

The Wildcats faced the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in their first round game. The Wildcats easily won 81-66. They were ahead at different periods of the game by 30 points. However, their reserves allowed the Hilltoppers to narrow the final score down and the Wildcats did not cover the 26.5-point spread they had as favorites.

Currently the line has the Wildcats listed as an 11-point favorite. The game total is currently sitting at 140 points.

The Cyclones this season are 23-10 SU and 20-9 ATS. The Wildcats come into the game with an impressive 33-2 SU record and 13-21 ATS. The two teams have not met head to head. Iowa State is 3-2 SU over their last five games, with losses to Texas and Missouri. However, they beat a strong, athletic Baylor team in the Big 12 conference tournament.

Kentucky is 4-1 SU in their last five games. The only blemish on their record was a loss in the SEC tournament championship game against Vanderbilt 71-64. This game will be tough for the Wildcats. However, Kentucky has one of the nation’s toughest defenses as they are only allowing just over 59 points per game. They also score nearly 77 points per game offensively.

Kentucky will take this game SU, but Iowa State is a good choice ATS. The total will be OVER.
