The NBA playoffs are days away and nearly all the spots have been filled. In the Eastern Conference however, the Philadelphia 76ers are fighting to make the post season. Tonight the 76ers host the Indiana Pacers in a key game for the 76ers. Philly has lost two straight games and has fallen to the eighth and last place in the playoff race. They are only two games in front of Milwaukee and most win to maintain that lead.
Indiana on the other hand is 9-1 SU over their last 10 games and in third place in the playoff race. A win or two more will secure that third place seed for the upcoming playoffs. The teams have met on two occasions this year. The 76ers defeated the Pacers by 10 points to cover a 7 point spread early in the season in their first matchup. The Pacers returned the favor in March as they defeated the 76ers by 15 points to cover a 1-point spread as the favorite.
Tonight’s line opened with the 76ers as a 3 ½-point favorite at home. The line has not changed and remains at 3 ½ points. The total is 184 ½. Smart money takes the 76ers with the total ending OVER.
Out west, the San Antonio Spurs visit the Los Angeles Lakers tonight. The Spurs have won three straight and over the last month have been the NBA’s hottest team.
The Lakers are winners of four in a row all without their top scorer Kobe Bryant who has missed five straight games with a shin problem. He should miss the game tonight as well. However, last Wednesday the Lakers defeated the Spurs in San Antonio 98-84 without Bryant in the lineup.
Andrew Bynum the Lakers center has stepped up without Bryant in the lineup and scored 16 points and pulled down 30 rebounds in the win over the Spurs. Metta World Peace led the Lakers in that game with 26 points.
The line opened with the Spurs as a 2 ½-point road favorite. The total is 199 ½. Smart money is on the Spurs less the points and the total to end UNDER.
