Operation: Witness live blog of gambler winning/losing his butt
Success: Not Yet Determined
Instead of telling you which prop bets I’ve placed tonight and then updating the results after the fact, I’ve decided to live blog my roller coaster night. On that note, here is what’s riding on the game:
Spurs -11 $200
Tim Duncan Under 15.5 points $105 to win $100
Tony Parker Over 31.5 points, rebounds, and assists $145 to win $100
Blake Griffin Over 18 points $100 to win $125
Chris Paul Made Free Throws Over 4.5 $125 to win $100
Stephen Jackson Points Over 10.5 $100 to win $100
1st Half Under 97 $100 to win $100
Chris Paul Over 28.5 Points & Assists $115 to win $100
8:46 PM – Congrats to the Pacers getting the W as 6.5 point underdogs. Also congrats to those with stones enough to take them on the moneyline paying out somewhere between +250 and +275.
8:48 PM – Griffin dunk 1:20 in. He’s got a slight limp but should hold up for the night.
8:52 PM – People made a big deal out of the 2Pac hologram but I think I’ve been watching “The Big Fundamental” Tim Duncan shoot that 15 foot bank shot since birth. 4 Points for Timmy D.
8:52 – Griffin with a nice move in the paint followed by another elevating slam. 1/3 of the way to 18 points.
8:58 – Is it bad that I’m already preparing the graphic for when Duncan goes over 15.5 points?
9:03 PM – Decent energy at the At&T Center but it really is nothing compared to Oklahoma City last night. Maybe it had something to do with Metta World Peace in the building but I think the Thunder are going to regret not having the #1 seed if they advance along with the Spurs.
9:09 PM – I’m not even sure what Manu Ginobli was trying to do there but it led to a dunk by DeAndre Jordan…and hopefully an amendment to David Stern’s new flopping manifesto.
1st Quarter Recap Well, I had hoped the teams would come out rusty…and they did shooting under 50%, unfortunately that somehow correlated to a 29-29 game and the 58 points almost assuredly kills my 1st half under. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are on pace to cover for me but I need help from Tony Parker, a point or 10 from Stephen Jackson, and Tim Duncan to stay on the bench…It’s looking like I’m going to sweat this out tonight.
9:22 PM – It’s 38-37 with 9:00 left in the 2nd quarter. I’m going to officially play taps for my first half under bet…so long little buddy, you never had a chance.
9:27 PM – I just took an allergy tablet…I should’ve double-checked if it was for day or night.
9:34 PM – DirecTV: “When you’re depressed you go to seminars, then feel like a winner, then go to Vegas.”…could’ve probably skipped right over the seminar and feel like a winner part depressed -> Vegas.
9:40 PM – Tim Duncan with 10 points on 5-8 shooting…getting trumpet ready.
9:43 PM – Duncan with 12, maybe my bookie will think I said over 15.5 points?
9:50 – 57-49 at the end of the half. Spurs -7 for the 1st half paid out…to those smarter than me. I’m legitimately on pace to lose every bet tonight, save for Blake over 18 and possibly the game line. Chris Paul hasn’t even attempted a free throw yet and don’t get me started on Stephen Jackson…We’ll need a big 2nd half to say the least.
10:18 Duncan with the last 6, I must’ve hopped in my Hot Tub Time Machine because this is the Duncan of 10 years ago. Taps on that bet.
10:23 Caron Butler with a broken wrist has 12000% more points than Stephen Jackson
10:26 81-64 Spurs. San Antonio / OKC could be a series for the ages.
10:29 I guess in a blowout situation, Stephen Jackson will own the 4th quarter?
End of 3rd
10:35 – 87-72 as we start the 4th. Blake Griffin is probably out for the game, needing only 6 to hit over 18. Chris Paul needs 6 3pointers and the foul and Stephen Jackson needs to start with 1 point. Basically need the Clippers to get this close…probably won’t happen.
10:38 – Jackson on the board for 3!!!!
10:42 – 7-0 run by the Clips has them within 11. I thought that allergy pill combined with Spurs basketball would have me on an island with Brooklyn Decker somewhere by now. Clippers have brought me back from the brink of Doze City…thanks a lot!
10:53 – I think the Clippers mini-run is over and fatigue is finally setting in. Lots of players with their hands on their knees.
10:59 – Griffin on the line to get within 2 of the over.
11:00 – doink
11:01 – made it to guarantee a one point loss.
11:09 – I’m never going to bet against Tim Duncan again. 26 points after that last swish.
11:13 – 108-92 Final. That means I won the Spurs -11 bet woo hoo!
What Have We Learned
Chris Paul & Tony Parker are banged up. Take their Points/ Assists under the rest of the series. The Clippers will get a win this series and take the Blake Griffin Points over next game. Tim Duncan isn’t dead and never live blog a Spurs game ever again.
Brooklyn is waiting.
More money is being made as we speak, we might as well get our hands on it tomorrow.
