Phillies Stricken With Injuries
Since the beginning of the baseball season, the Phillies in Philadelphia have experienced a plague of injuries, with numerous players experiencing recent injuries and subsequent hurting. Joe Blanton, Shane Victorino, Carlos Ruiz, Roy Oswalt, J.C. Romero, Domonic Brown, Brad Lidge and Chase Utley have all experienced injuries during the season. When it comes to any strong contender trying to get to the playoffs, it is important to consider the impact that the health of the team’s key players is going to have on the team’s ability to get to the playoffs. The Phillies have a powerful set of six players that they absolutely need to keep in good shape in order to be a real strong contender for the playoffs, and this means Ruiz, Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard, Placido Polcano and Victorino all need to be strong heading into September.
In addition to Brown’s return, Ruben Amaro, Jr., the team’s general manager is likely going to acquire another bat in order to complement the team’s outfield core just before the trading deadline has passed. The necessity for these players to remain healthy and productive is going to determine just how many of the team’s solid pitching performances are going to turn into team victories throughout the progressing season. It is definitely important for these players to stay healthy if the team is going to stand a chance in the playoffs.
